Oh baby!

I did it.  I finally did it!  I made a baby blanket for ME.  Well, technically it's for little man but you know what I mean.  After making lots of baby blankets and other gifts for the little ones of family and friends I am finally making those cute little things for me! The hubs and I (okay, mainly the hubs) put little man's crib together the other weekend.
Did I mention I had to give up my sewing room for the nursery?!?  I've been booted to a corner in the spare bedroom.  I guess it's better then getting booted to the basements with all the spiders though.  Plus, the room does look better as a nursery.

Anyway, back to the making of cute little things.  I was able to put one of the final touches on the crib by adding what should have been a quick and easy blanket to it.  Who knew that sewing minky onto flannel could cause a small headache.  And who knew that apparently I don't drive one speed on my sewing machine!?  The cute stitch I was planning on using turned out to look like poo because I couldn't keep the spacing right.  So I had to break out my good old friend the seam ripper.  I had to rip out an entire side of the blanket!  So much ripping that this happened..........
WHOOPS!!

It took me a little over four hours to get it all out.  After that I decided a nice simple straight line for the edge would do just fine.
The finished product!  I think mommy and daddy are both going to like this blanket as much as little man.  It has the hub's favorite blue and white bicycle flannel on one side and my much loved grey chevron minky on the other.
