I broke the first rule in quilting!

I started quilting when I was in high school.  At that time my teacher told us the first rule in quilting is not to make a quilt for the man in our life.  I'm sure she had seen even high school romances start at stop before the irons even cooled so it makes sense.  However, after 5... (okay 10!)  years of following her rule I decided it was time to break it.

Here is the first quilt I had for the hubs!

The pattern is Spaghetti Junction.  I had a little bit of a hard time lining up the sashing.  Being a very type A person this made it difficult for me to want to finish once I realized that it wouldn't be perfect.  I'm glad I did though, because like everyone always says you can't tell from far away and I am probably the only one who notices.   It looks pretty darn good to me now.

I absolutely LOVE the quilting on this one!!  Fits him very well.
PS... remind me to put a long arm machine on my Christmas list this year!  And maybe a studio to fit it in.....

This is not the backing I was originally planning on using.  I brought this home to make some projects for little man (oh yeah, I've been such a bad blogger I haven't even shared that we are expecting a baby boy in October!!!  More to come on him later.)  The hubs kept asking what I was planning on making him out of it.  When I told him nothing he got a little upset and started to do pout.  So it was back to Joann's I went (3 different stores PS) to find enough to make it the backing.  I'm glad I did though.  It's very soft and will make a great couch quilt to cuddle under.  That is when it stops being 90 degrees out!!
